About Afrika

Afrika Mhlophe has been in ministry since 1998 and from 2002 he became the leading pastor of Good News Community Church in Port Elizabeth.

He ministers in various platforms in South Africa and abroad, including being a regular speaker at the Mighty Men Conferences (MMC) where he addresses thousands of men from various parts of South Africa.
Afrika’s main focus revolves around calling Christians to bring kingdom influence into every domain of life and it is for this reason that he has ventured to speak and write on difficult subjects such as racism, corruption, idolatry, etc. He has published three books, namely;

  • Christianity and the Veneration of the Dead
  • Freed by but Imprisoned by Culture
  • A Passion for Position

The first two are landmark publications that dare open up the taboo subjects of African Religion and its hegemonic influence over the African culture and identity. The latter – with a subtitle ‘A Call to Servant Leadership’ – deals with positional leadership, obsession with ecclesiastical titles and the abuses that are prevalent today among Christian leaders.
Afrika has a TV program called ‘Pressing Matters’ on Faith Broadcast Network, DSTV channel 341. The program deals with contemporary and contentious issues from a Biblical perspective and it is flighted on Tuesdays at 5:30pm and Saturdays at 12 noon.

He is a board chairperson of Gateway News, an online Christian news portal and also writes regularly for the publication.
Afrika has a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the South African Theological Seminary (SATS). He and wife, Lindelwa, currently reside in Port Elizabeth, South Africa with their two children.
